Grief
Counselling

If you’re struggling with the loss of a loved one, it can be incredibly difficult to continue living your life as you normally would. Maybe you feel like you’ve changed as a person as a result of the loss, or you’re just trying to make sense of what happened. You might find it incredibly exhausting to spend your time thinking about the loss and trying to grieve. On the other hand, maybe you find it challenging to try and go back to normal afterward. These emotions might leave you feeling disconnected from everything around you - family and friends, your job, your hobbies and interests, and even some aspects of yourself. Grief counselling can help with the healing process.

We also grieve in more situations than just those involving death. Maybe you find yourself grieving after the loss of a relationship or a job, or the loss of your independence after your health has declined. Depending on life circumstances, you might experience the loss of an opportunity to pursue your goals or something else important to you. The emotional experiences you feel in these situations are also normal situations where we grieve.

I can guide you through the grief process, helping you to better understand your own unique grieving response that comes from your loss. I can provide you with the support needed to build comfort in grieving and confronting uncomfortable emotions, encouraging you to slowly work towards acceptance. I will never tell you to move on or get over your loss. Instead, I will help you to answer some of the questions that come up in grieving, like:

  • Who am I, now that I’ve gone through this loss? What is important to me?

  • How can I continue moving forward, and what do I want my life to look like?
